First news about game 2!

Wowee! What a long few days!

I've been working way too hard on this Gun Forge Test Site

Obviously, I've not worked too hard on the front end. But I've been learning PHP + mySQL, for all the stuff to make it work.

It seems some people edited/hacked the S.H.M.U.P v1.03demo to get scores much higher than should be possible with the demo.

I think this is awesome!

Unfortunately an unrelated problem means I've had to take them down :(

For those with the full game, don't worry, the main high scores are unaffected!

Mini, sverside S.H.M.U.P update

Just updated the server-side part of the high score tables.

There are now high scores for people running the 1.03 Demo and weekly scores for both Full and Demo.

Also the scripts that generate those pages are now more robust. They'll show the top 10, if there's 10 or more scores. But if there's less than 10, it'll show all of them and update the title at the top of the page.

It's like magic!

S.H.M.U.P v1.03 and Global High Scores!

Well, it's been just over a week since S.H.M.U.P has been released and here's the first big patch.

Here's a list of what's been added:

Global High Scores

This was a feature I wanted in the game, but thought it was too hard. Then I looked into it again (for game 2) and saw that it was actually really easy. So I added it.

Now, if you get a score in your local high scores, it'll post up your score to the global high score list. Also, on the main menu you'll have the top 5 global high scores right under your local high scores. Obviously, both of these need internet access.

Finally, here are the top ten global scores. Later on, I'll add pages for weekly and monthly top 10 scores.

Twitter Info

On the login screen, there's some info about what happens if you add your twitter info.

Error Catching

This was meant to be on launch, but I had it commented out! Basically, if there's a bug in the game, it'll crash and create a log file in your My Documents. Send that to me and it'll point me in the right direction to fix it.

SHMUP is now available!

After a day slaving behind my computer, I made my deadline. And now S.H.M.U.P is available for $9.99USD from the site.

Yeah, even I don't think that's true. Someone is going to find a really big bug in the next few hours, I'm sure.
